- Key generation: The Cisco Secure Email Encryption Service creates a unique encryption key for the message.
- Secure envelope: The message is encrypted and wrapped in a secure HTML envelope that can be opened in any browser.
- Key storage: The encryption key is stored temporarily on the Cisco key server, ensuring only verified recipients can decrypt.
- Recipient access: The recipient clicks the secure envelope link, verifies their identity, and reads the message — no software installation required.
